Paulus Pumped For Parramatta Outlaw Show

Thirty-year-old Brian Paulus from Mechanicsburg in Pennsylvania is the second driver announced officially to contest the World of Outlaws event at Parramatta City Raceway on January 8th, 9th and 10th 2004.

Whilst Brian Paulus lost his famous braces for his teeth in the lead up to the 2003 World of Outlaws Championship, he gained one significant thing during the 2003 season - an Outlaws Feature race victory!

Many seasoned observers of the World of Outlaws brigade still talk about Paulus' stunning win at Hartford , Ohio on August 6th. Despite a front row start, Paulus slipped well back mid-race and was trailing the leaders by more than half a lap at one stage. However Paulus' Goodyear tyres really started heating up and it produced a stunning last lap pass of then race leader Donny Schatz for an amazing victory.

"At Hartford we got lucky with tyre selection...we had a Goodyear tyre on that no one had on and it worked for us. Once the tyre got heat in it and we reeled `the leaders in and it just got better and better," recalled Paulus enthusiastically.

Paulus is not only a genuine World of Outlaws star on the rise...he is also one of the more intelligent and articulate personalities on the championship circuit.

He has always had an affinity with Australia and Australian drivers in particular, despite having never raced in the land down under to this point.

"I hear the racing at Parramatta City Raceway is real good on a weekly basis. A lot of the Outlaw guys I have spoken who have raced there think that running at Parramatta will be like running at my home track at Williams Grove, Pennsylvania against the Posse - that the locals will be extremely tough to beat on their home track."

Paulus has an acute appreciation of Australian Sprintcar talent.

"Brooke Tatnell, Kerry Madsen, Garry Brazier...these guys could and should be running full time with the World of Outlaws...Garry Brazier drove my car for me in 1997 when I was injured in Pennsylvania and I drove for Brooke in the Caseys car with the Outlaws a few seasons ago after his bad crash at Eldora, so I know very well how talented these guys are."

Another well-known aspect to Brian Paulus is his immaculate racecar presentation of the #28 Maxim, owned by Gary and Dawne Pender. The car for several seasons now has been known as the 'salad bowl' car, with an amazing tossed salad as the cars paint scheme. It is fair to say that Paulus set a presentation standard with this machine that has since seen many of the other World of Outlaws stars follow!

"Verdelli Farms have been wonderful in their support of our racing but they won't be with us next year as they are changing their marketing strategy...however we already have several strong sponsorship leads ahead for next season and rest assured that our Maxim Chassis, Kistler Engine, Goodyear Tyres #28 machine will be ready to roll at Parramatta as our kick off for the World of Outlaws championship in 2004."

Paulus is quietly confident that he can impress many when he hits the Parramatta City Raceway clayway in full fury in January!

"Finally getting an Outlaws win is great but next season will be all about consistency and I intend to start consistent at Parramatta . I know I can race anywhere and win and that includes the World of Outlaws show there in January. I grew up racing on the big half-mile tracks like the Williams Grove so Parramatta will suit me fine...I am sure the fans will enjoy how I go about my racing!"

Paulus has certainly gathered some good consistency this year already however, with him sitting solidly in 7th place in the point standings.

Parramatta City Raceway officially welcomes Brian Paulus for the upcoming Outlaws Down Under Event at Parramatta City Raceway.
