The National Sprint Tour visits Susquehanna Speedway Park on Thursday, June 8, Friday, June 9. Brain Paulus commented on SSP, “When I was a kid Susquehanna was our favorite Sunday night track. The other nights there were competing tracks and slit car counts. Susquehanna was the night that the best drivers showed up and put on the best show. I remember how exciting it was when Bobby Allen would come off the road and would come in for a weekend of racing in central PA. Guys like Steve Siegel and Lynn Paxton, Frankey Kerr, Smoky Snellbaker, and my boyhood favorite Jan Opperman, would put on shows that was hands down the best racing a person would see.
All the tracks in central PA are very distinct in there shape and size. There speeds very, and Susquehanna is a place all its own. Selinsgrove, Port Royal and William’s Grove are the big half miles, but Lincoln is a smaller high banked three eighths mile. Susquehanna is also a three eighths mile with less banking and a very wide racing grove.
With new ownership and promotion by Todd Fisher, he’s really trying to bring it back to its glory days that most fans can appreciate. I know that I‘m looking forward to our two day event there. I‘m sure the fans are looking forward to a great showdown between all of there local favorites and the drivers from the NST.”
