The teams arrived in New Zealand only to experience a cyclone.  Heavy rains delayed their trip and forced the busses carrying the teams to take alternate routes to Tauranga, New Zealand.  Heavy rains stopped just in time for racing at Baypark, Mount Maunganui.  A helicopter was used to dry the track in time for racing.

Baypark is a state of the art facility seating 17,500 people and has a rugby field in the middle hosting everything from concerts, sporting events, and sprint car racing.

Night 1 – Thursday, January 26
Brian timed in 3rd quick and finished 6th in his heat race forcing him to run the B-Main.  Brian would finish the B-Main in 3rd behind Kraig Kinser and Joey Saldana.  Due to strict curfew laws, the A-feature was cut short and declared finished after only 10 laps.  Brian was scored with a 12th place finish.

Night 2 – Friday, January 27
Brain qualified 2nd, the fastest time of any of the USA teams competing.  Only Kerry Madsen turned a faster lap time.  Brian finished 5th in the second heat race qualifying him for the A-Main event.  The Arnold Transportation, Who Monsters #28 was fast all evening and would finish the A-Main with a strong 4th place finish.  After two nights of racing, Brian stood in fourth place and was locked into the A-feature for the final night of racing.  As a result Brian would only race the Dash and A-Main events in the finale.

Night 3 – Saturday, January 28
Being locked in to the A-feature, allowed Brian to watch heat races and get an idea of how the track was holding up.  Brian would start 4th in the dash, finishing in the same position giving him a 4th place start in the A-feature.  Brian raced strong throughout the 40 lap feature event finishing with a 3rd place feature, his second top 5 finish of the season.

The teams had time between the races to meet local race car drivers and teams making new friends in New Zealand.  Everyone was extremely friendly, fans wonderful, and the race track facilities, one of the best in the world.  Brian and wife, Melissa would have a little relaxation before heading home allowing them to hit the beach enjoying New Zealand once last time.  Once back in the states Brian will spend some time getting racecars ready for the season.  The National Sprint Tour opens their season February 24th at the Tulare Thunderbowl in California.  The NST schedule is listed on our results page and is as of January 12.
